INVEST has developed a strategy to facilitate the development process in rural Malawi. The INVEST development strategy has a unique order, which has been developed by Africans for Africans.
The basic idea:
- Outreach Evangelism to a New Village
- Teach the Word of God/Fellowship
- Assess Needs
- Introduce Nutrition Programs and Medical Care
- Introduce Educational and Agricultural Development Activities
- Introduce Community Development Activities (i.e. sanitation projects)
- Continue on-going Discipleship Training/Mentoring
- Introduce Economic Development Activities
- Replicate program (i.e. individuals from current village to begin relationships in an adjacent New Village).
This approach is successful in Malawi because the INVEST staff members who implement this strategy understand the cultural nuances of the communities with which they work. INVEST sets forth a commitment to bring hope and opportunity to the women and children of rural Malawi one village at a time.
